And why did John Humphrys this morning give more than 12 minutes in the prime time interview slot on the Radio 4 Today programme to Abu Izzedine - a man the BBC Newsnight previously investigated for his inflammatory comments over 7/7? They reported at that time that police were investigating his remarks. Humphrys gave him a pretty sympathetic interview, not interrupting, chuckling at one point. The interview could only stir up concern and resentment against Muslims in general. Similarly, on Newsnight the other night another John Reid interrupter Anjem Choudhary was give a very easy and respectful ride by Jeremy Paxman when he was invited onto the programme as one of two guests (other one was from the Sufi Muslim Council: what a representative pair).
