Beneath a basketball net in a freezing sports hall, a Muslim cleric is waging war on Islamic extremism.
Imam Shaheed Satardien is taking a stand against those Muslims in Ireland whom he claims are too sympathetic to Osama bin Laden and the cult of the suicide bomber. At Friday prayers in the sports hall in north-west Dublin, the South African-born former anti-apartheid activist warns his multinational congregation against blaming other religions and the West in general for all Muslims' ills.

You must have googled his name and read the false claim that he joined the NNP posted by one of the biggest liars in Cape Town Ebrahim Rasool to discredit some Sheikhs. Professor Satardien as far as I know for sure have never been a card crrying member of any political party although he has taken a stand against the ANC after they were in power because they have turned apartheid upside down through their affirmative action. You do not know this man.He fled South Africa from the apartheid regime in 1976 because of his anti-apartheid activities and afterwards he was working under the banner of the United Democratic Front and other liberation movements in South Africa. Next time please verufy your distorted facts.
Brother, if you are a true Muslim then please do the right thing. How can you try to discredit such a decent man like Sheikh Shaheed Satardien that has sacrificed his whole life fighting injustice, oppression and extremism even if it is perpetrated by "Muslims". It is obvious that you do not have any respect for ou leader and instead of talking about his courage you seem to want to deride and belittle him. Is it too hard for you to show respect to one of the greatest leaders of our time? It is amazing that you only picked up the worst lie against him instead of all the great things that he is doing. Please know that if you do not respect him then we respect Sheikh Dr. Shaheed Satardien as our leader, teacher and preacher.
Because Sheikh Satardien challenged Nelson Mandela, Ahmad Kathrada, Govan Mbeki, Raymond Mhlaba, Andrew Malangeni and other ANC stalwarts for calling Walter Sisulu by the name of Allah, the Muslim sell-outs in the ANC like Ebrahim Rasool accused him of having joined the NNP. Why do'nt you find something more useful than attacking a decent Muslim leader like Sheikh Dr Shaheed Satardien who is a true testimony of a decent form of Islam that all other faiths have respect for like us all on the Interfaith Roundtable? Sheikh Dr Satardien has many other organizations and causes in which he promotes a tolerant Islam. I find it strange that you have missed that whilst taking his picture from the internet. Did you fail to notice his good works and only managed to notice the lie that some Muslims in the ANC fabricated against him because he challenged them for using the name of Allah on Walter Sisulu? As a Muslim where were you to defend the name of Allah when others ridiculed it and ascribed it to a human being? How is it that you missed the fact that he preached against violence and extremism? How is it that you have missed the fact that so many of us are developing Islamophilia because of this great man's behaviour and character. Sheikh Dr Shaheed Satardien can easily be the Muslim Gandhi or Martin Luther King Jnr that we are so eagerly searching for. Please show some self-respect and leave the man alone if you cannot condone his decency and good example.

I had to run for my life almost three years ago and came to
Ireland. I am presently a lecturer at the Free University of
Ireland in Peace studies and head of the department

group and I am planning a world Muslim summit for this year.

That is basically what keeps me busy although I am very heart-
broken because one part of my family is in Cape Town and other
parts of the world. I have a son at Ummul-Qura and a son at the
Al-Azhar. Then I have another son in his final year law at UWC and
a daughter in her fifth year medicine at UCT and another daughter
at UWC doing Psychology. The other children are all still at high and
primary schools. Our baby (which is my sixteenth child) is ten months
old.
I am making every effort to get my family to join me here as soon as
possible. Maybe you should also come and visit me when you get
the opportunity Insha-Allah.
That is what keeps me busy and I hope your side is also okay.

Dear Sirs/Madams,
In response to the many questions,
enquiries and responses from my students,
colleagues, and followers about the lie
that has been perpetuated for more than
five years whilst I was abroad and
without trying to find out the truth, I
hereby express my disgust at the Western
Cape ANC leadership and simply wish to make

1) I have never been a card-carrying member
of any political party in my entire life except

'true and seasoned politician' who cannot
make his life's successes except when it is
based on lies.
6)At the time of his statement, I was not even
in the country (I was in Makkah)and therefore not one of the
three MJC members or any other party whatsoever.
7) I have not joined the DP either so where on
earth does my name fit into his statement?
8)Just to add some goodness, I have always been
'prominent' and 'senior' in my field I chose
especially in the 'clergy'if I influenced the
elections in a massive way on two occassions.
Maybe you should thank me rather now.
9) Finally, I think that the Western Cape ANC
is showing a tendency of ideological bankruptcy if
they still have to perpetuate a five year old lie
on their website.
10) I suggest you take it off and write me a
decent apology.
I grew up with fighting for my rights until I
get it.
11) Even if you are the present government, I will
not hesitate one minute to show up your wrongs
and lies. I fear no-one except Allah the almighty.
